ASIS Recognizes 2021 Certification Recipients

While juggling new responsibilities, workplace challenges, and more during COVID-19, numerous security management professionals also earned ASIS board certifications between September 2020 and August 2021.

In addition to validating a mastery of core security principles and skills essential to best practices, these individuals demonstrated a unique commitment to excellence and professional growth in the following security domains:

  • Ideal for those with one to three years of experience, the Associate Protection Professional (APP) certification demonstrates mastery in security fundamentals. The APP measures professionals’ knowledge of security management fundamentals, business operations, risk management, and response management.

  • Considered the “gold standard,” the Certified Protection Professional (CPP®) showcases expertise in seven key domains of security. Eligibility requirements include five to seven years of security experience, and three years in charge of a security function.

  • Earning the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI®) certification confirms specialized abilities to collect information through surveillance, interviews, and interrogations. Requirements include three to five years of investigations experience, with at least two years in case management.

  • The ultimate physical security assessment, the Physical Security Professional (PSP®) credential validates knowledge of application, design, and integration of physical security systems and implementation of security measures. Eligibility requirements include three to five years of experience in the physical security field.

In 2021, ASIS International updated its eligibility requirements for all certification programs to better align with the security management profession of today—including reducing the professional experience requirements.

“We have also eliminated the need to hold a degree specifically in the security field,” according to ASIS. “The rigor and benefits of earning certification will remain unchanged, but these updates make ASIS certification more accessible to qualified security professionals deserving of recognition.”

ASIS also sends a special congratulations to the 102 security management professionals who earned the “Triple Crown,” which consists of the CPP, PCI, and PSP.
