The Louisville Chapter is sad to report that ASIS Lifetime Member A. Joseph “Joe” Besendorf, 93, passed away September 29th, 2023. Joe joined ASIS in 1966 and was a member for 57 years!
Joe was born in Louisville on March 3rd, 1930. He graduated from St. Xavier High School before joining the Navy.
While in the Navy, Joe met his wife of 45 years, Josephine Rastallis. They returned to Louisville where they started their family and raised four children. He retired after working at the telephone company for 40 years where he served as the Director of Security for Kentucky.
He was a charter member of the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police, the American Society for Industrial Security, Louisville Armed Forces Committee, Kentucky Peace Officers Association, The Filson Club and Knights of Columbus Bishop Spalding Council. He was also a past member of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, Juvenile Justice Commission and the Jefferson County Welfare Board.
