A special message from Visit Dallas President and CEO Phillip Jones
ASIS is keeping close tabs on the widespread devastation brought about by Hurricane Harvey and Irma. We are working closely with our local leadership on the ground in Houston and the Dallas CVB to see how we can best support those in the affected areas. In addition, we have received a number of calls with questions regarding how Harvey's effects will impact ASIS 2017.
Following, are a few updates regarding show planning.
- ASIS 2017 to go on as scheduled. We are aware the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is being house storm evac uees. However, this shelter will be located away from the convention area and will not impact our show.
UPDATE: Evacuees have started to leave Dallas and head back to their homes, only a small number still remain at the convention center.
- Exhibitor services are proceeding uninterrupted. Our general services contractor, Arata Expositions, has been unaffected and is continuing to process orders and accepting exhibitor freight as expected.

- We have made available a complimentary webinar, "Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma: What's Next?" This webinar provides insights into the importance of emergency preparedness and examine the security implications of responding to natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey and Irma. Produced by the ASIS Crisis Management and Business Continuity Council the webinar will be led by Firestorm CEO, James Satterfield and Bruce Blythe, chairman, R3 Continuum.
- Adding new education to our ASIS 2017 lineup. On Sept. 25, "Lessons Learned from Past Hurricanes that will Make Your Organization More Resilient" will provide best practices from continuity and security professionals. Find out how the lessons learned from past storms helped them to plan and prepare their organizations and industries to be more resilient in the face of hurricane (or other natural disaster).
- Sharing free resources to assist preparation and recovery efforts for those affected by the storm as well as other emergency management resources can be found on our website at https://www.asisonline.org/Membership/Member-Center/Security-Spotlight/Pages/Preparedness.aspx. We encourage businesses, residents, and officials in these areas to take advantage of these security resources in the wake of storms like Hurricane Harvey and to prepare for any future severe weather.
