ASIS International Hosts Law Enforcement-Military Appreciation Day at Annual Seminar and Exhibits in Anaheim, California

​Active law enforcement and military professionals are invited to attend Law Enforcement/Military Appreciation Day at ASIS 2009 on Wednesday, Sept. 23.  This special day is held in conjunction with the ASIS International 55th Annual Seminar and Exhibits, the security industry’s leading event.  ASIS 2009 will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif., Sept. 21-24. ASIS International is the leading organization for security professionals worldwide.

Admission is free for active law enforcement and military professionals on Sept. 23. The purpose of this day is to honor the close relationship ASIS enjoys with colleagues in law enforcement and the military.  The ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits will not return to the West Coast until 2020.

Attendees must register onsite, in Hall E of the convention center. Law enforcement or military identification with photo is required. The complimentary day pass includes admission to educational programs, the Exhibits floor and the keynote address by Condoleezza Rice.

The Exhibits floor will feature the latest security technology and innovations, providing a showcase for 850 companies demonstrating cutting-edge products and services. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sept. 21-23.

ASIS 2009 is offering more than 160 educational programs covering the full range of current security topics, as well as core security management best practices and strategies over the three-day Seminar.

Sessions on Sept. 23 include:

  • Critical Infrastructure Protection Tools and Resources from DHS
  • Military Security Operations in Afghanistan and Iraq
  • Los Angeles County Approach to Critical Incident Protocols:  Successful Response of Public-Private
  • Partnerships to Major Incidents
  • Taking Control Across Continents:  Successes and Lessons from Recent International Crises
  • Learning from Disaster:  Applying Lessons Learned to Security and Crisis Management

Attendees are also invited to a special panel discussion on ASIS board certification for transitioning military security professionals.

Additionally, attendees are invited to visit the ASIS Certification Lounge to speak with board-certified security professionals, many of whom have successfully transitioned from the military or law enforcement into a second career in the public or private sector.
