Marketplace: Self-Service Kiosks, ONVIF Add-On, Security Scanners, and More
What security solutions entered the market recently? Security Management collected a selection of new or updated solutions that you should be aware of.
Self-Service Access Kiosk
A new collaboration between HID and Olea Kiosks integrated HID’s U.ARE.U Camera Identification System with facial recognition technology into the Olea HYPERMODULAR Kiosk to address a rising demand for flexible, customizable ID authentication and verification across vertical settings. Facial recognition-based access enables on-the-spot verification, reduces wait times, minimizes shared touchpoints and related health risks, and reduces the need for dedicated staff who would check IDs. The modular kiosk design can also accommodate fingerprint readers, barcode scanners, ticket and ID document readers, RFID readers, card printers, and other HID offerings. ONVIF Profile Add-On
ONVIF announced a TLS Configuration Add-on to increase the security of communications between physical security devices and software clients. The add-on—which is not a full new ONVIF profile but a complementary specification to address a specific use case or end user need—supports the configuration for Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption, enabling a conformant video management system to initially configure or update TLS settings in a conformant device like a camera to support encrypted communication between the device and client, boosting cybersecurity and resilience. Walk-Through Security Scanner
Rohde & Schwarz’s QPS Walk2000 walk-through scanner was developed to address high-volume security screening in a range of applications that require rapid and accurate screening for metallic and non-metallic threats, contraband, explosives, drugs, ceramic guns, blades, and other prohibited items. The system offers a simple user interface and does not require the removal of jackets, belts, shoes, or most clothing items that would slow the screening process, making it effective for employee screening and surges in traffic. In December, the company announced that Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Florida contracted to procure and deploy up to eight of the scanners to screen employees entering the secure area of the airport. The new series of recorders is tailored for multi-site businesses requiring up to 16 cameras per location, and both models (EL08 and EL16) come fully licensed for all channels. The cost-effective NVRs are compatible with March Networks’ Command Enterprise VMS software and are integrated with Searchlight Cloud for central management and data analytics. They can run either as part of a cloud-managed video surveillance system or a traditional on-premise model. Learn more at www.marchnetworks.com.
Vape Detection and Alert System
The completely redesigned FlySense FS300 system from Soter Technologies is meant to help school administrators reduce vaping and deter bullying. The IoT device was built on a scalable platform to allow for a slimmer design, the addition of multiple sensors (including light, room occupancy, and enhanced vape/air quality sensors, and alert protocols), a new solid-state drive and operating system, a redesigned backend, and security upgrades. Enhanced algorithms can now detect flavored, THC, and nicotine vape. Learn more at www.sotertechnologies.com.
