Hypermarket Surveillance Solution
IDIS, a large manufacturer of South Korean-made video technology, was selected by a chain of hypermarkets in Finland to implement a video surveillance upgrade. With the upgrades, Prisma—which consists of 71 stores offering groceries, clothing, and home accessories—aims to tackle shrink and improve system usability with a hybrid solution that integrates third-party products. With more than 150 third-party analog cameras across multiple locations, operating the surveillance system had become difficult. With the installation of the IDIS Solution Suite VMS, Prisma can utilize the solution’s live video streaming, management, and administration tools—all integrated with the existing cameras.

IDIS purchased Costar for $23.2 million, and the merger agreement will increase IDIS’s market reach, including into government and intelligent transportation sectors.
