Throughout 2024, 55 nations—including seven of the 10 most populated nations in the world—will be holding or have already held national elections. Several of these events were already considered high-stakes decisions, with a range of concerns around the voting process, including artificial intelligence (AI), disinformation, misinformation, election interference, suppression, and even violence.
