Fast Facts: What You Need to Know About California’s Senate Bill 553
Nearly all businesses in California will need to comply with the state’s latest workplace violence prevention law. Senate Bill (SB) 553 was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on 20 September 2023.
The new law, which became effective as of 1 July, encourages employers to be more proactive when it comes to workplace safety instead of reacting to incidents of workplace violence after the fact.
