Keep Training Documentation Streamlined with a Checklist

Documentation is the key to a proper training program. It allows for performance to be verified, and regular documentation can support a guard force company in the face of a lawsuit.

Remember, like a good incident report, training results should be well-documented, with sufficient detail to make trainees’ and employees’ results clear to anyone. Here are a few items to consider including in a training checklist or document.

Administrative Data

  • Trainee’s name and employee identification number

  • Trainer’s name and employee identification number

  • Training subject matter

  • Date and time of training (start and finish)

  • Location of training

Performance Results

  • Type of performance evaluation (select one)

    • Computer-based tests or quiz
    • Written paper test or quiz
    • Hands-on performance testing
    • Combination of written and hands-on test or quiz
    • No performance evaluation completed

  • Areas where the trainee performed well

  • Areas where the trainee requires improvement
