ASIS News: GSX Know Before You Go

GSX 2024 is less than a month away. Here’s what you need to know before you go.

Getting Around

GSX 2024 will be at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), conveniently located within 2 miles of more than a dozen hotels. Check out this map to see how far your hotel is from the convention center. If your hotel is further away, no need to fret—ASIS provides round-trip shuttle service for attendees each day, and if you book your hotel through GSX’s official housing service, shuttle tickets are included. Shuttle tickets are also available for purchase on site at GSX. Check out the shuttle schedule here.

Once you get to the OCCC, make sure to spend some time in the exhibit hall. This year GSX will host roughly 500 exhibitors showcasing the cutting edge of security technology and solutions. Check out our searchable Exhibit Hall floor plan before you touch down in Orlando to make sure you’re ready to take on all the Exhibit Hall has to offer. You can also check out the Security Management GSX Product Showcase for a snapshot of some of the security solutions on display this year.

The ASIS Hub is your destination for all things ASIS, from professional development resources to Community Hub sessions to learning about exclusive member benefits! Stop by booth 1775 to maximize your membership and your GSX experience.

Don’t worry about going hungry—the GSX Bistro is back! The Bistro will serve a hot buffet lunch including a drink and a dessert every day from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bistro access is included with an All-Access pass or is available for purchase in advance or onsite.

Education

This year, GSX will feature more than 200 sessions tackling vital issues in the security profession. For an overview of what to expect at GSX, check out our schedule-at-a-glance. You can also build your own custom schedule with Map Your Show by searching for sessions or exhibitors and then adding them to My Show Planner. The GSX Map Your Show mobile app will be launching shortly, and it will allow you to access your custom schedule, search the show, and get notifications about exciting events and opportunities right on your smartphone.

To see a comprehensive list of GSX’s education, check out our searchable database. You can search by keyword, topic, time, or even use our prebuilt session tracks to ensure you get the right experience for you.

Make sure to build in time to see our three exceptional keynotes this year. Monday at 8:30 a.m. will be former Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin, Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. will feature executive fellow at Harvard Business School and artificial intelligence investor Dr. Rana el Kaliouby, and Wednesday’s 11:15 a.m. session will be retired U.S. Navy Commander Kirk Lippold.

Orlando

Orlando is one of the top three tourist destinations in the United States, and it isn’t hard to imagine why. Year-round warm weather, vibrant neighborhoods, and a wealth of dining and entertainment options make it a can’t-miss city. Take a look at all the exciting adventures you can look forward to!

Orlando has a variety of transportation options, including its two public transit options: the I-Ride Trolley Service and the LYNX regional bus. The city also has a number of private car and bus services and rideshare services like Lyft and Uber are widely available.

You can expect the weather to be warm in Orlando, with September temperatures averaging 75-90 degrees Fahrenheit (24-32 degrees Celsius). Orlando is also fairly humid, so it may feel warmer than the real temperature outside, and there is potential for rainfall.

And if you haven’t already, make sure to register for GSX!

Get Involved with ASIS

Volunteering with ASIS International allows you to engage and connect with fellow professionals while empowering yourself and the community. Whether you are new to ASIS or a veteran in the security industry, we want to hear from you.

Volunteer with a Subject Area Community Steering Committee

The ASIS annual call for volunteers is now open! Each year, ASIS seeks volunteers who are passionate about what they do and want to ignite that passion within others. ASIS subject area communities bring together security professionals from across the organization and from across the world to discuss the latest trends in their sectors and share topic-specific resources.

Steering committees work together to gather and create resources that are relevant to their communities and host discussions about new topics. This may look like hosting webinars, writing content, and managing community Connects pages or social media. If you want to give back to your community and get more involved with ASIS, this is the perfect time.
