Fast Facts: What is Open-Source Intelligence?

Intelligence is collected information that involves threats to countries, people, property, or other designated interests that has been processed, analyzed, and disseminated to decision-makers.

Information for intelligence is gathered using six methods, including Open-Source intelligence (OSINT).

But what exactly is OSINT? And why are security practitioners increasingly using it?
