Industry News: Motorola Expands Footprint with $4.4 Billion Buy of Mission-Critical Technology Provider

Motorola Solutions Completes $4.4 Billion Acquisition of Mission-Critical Technology Provider

In August, Motorola completed its $4.4 billion acquisition of Silvus Technologies Holdings Inc. Silvus, a California-based company, supports frontline operations with its mobile ad hoc networks (MANET).

The MANET technology provides customers with highly secure data, video, and voice communications without having to rely on fixed infrastructure. Silvus devices mesh to create large, scalable, and self-healing networks that can adapt to continuous mobility. These networks connect users, devices, and other nodes at scale and across distances while also supporting bandwidth-intensive technologies such as video, sensors, and drones. The MANET networks can maximize throughput and connected nodes, mitigate jamming, and minimize detection and interception.

“This acquisition underscores our unwavering conviction that technology is the bedrock for protecting communities, securing borders, and defending against today’s ever-evolving threats, whether in the air, on the ground, or in the water,” said Greg Brown, CEO of Motorola Solutions, when the acquisition was first announced in May. The companies will combine their engineering teams to support more customers globally.
