Welcome to the New 2025 ASIS International Boards
ASIS International is excited to welcome our new leadership for 2025! ASIS is governed by a Global Board of Directors, as well as regional boards for the North American, European, Latin American and Caribbean, and Asian Pacific regions, with plans to add Sub-Saharan African and Middle East and North African regional boards in the future. Additionally, the Professional Certification Board oversees ASIS certifications, the Professional Standards Board oversees ASIS standards, the CSO Center Board oversees the CSO Center, and the ASIS Foundation Board of Trustees oversees the Foundation.
Joe M. Olivarez Jr., MBA, rises to the position of president for 2025, and Eddie Sorrells, CPP, PCI, PSP, will take over as president-elect. Pablo Colombres, CPP, joins the executive committee as secretary/treasurer, and William “Bill” Tenney serves as CEO.

Joe M. Olivarez, Jr.
Vice President of Operational Centers of Excellence and CSO, Jacobs
Olivarez has been a member of ASIS since 1989 and served as the chair of the ASIS CSO Center Board in 2019. Olivarez has more than 30 years of security experience overseeing and consulting Fortune 500 and government enterprise security programs.

Eddie Sorrells, CPP, PCI, PSP
President, DSI Security Services
Sorrells has been a member of ASIS since 1998 and served as a community vice president and as the chair of the ASIS Bylaws, Governance, and Policies Committee. With more than 30 years of experience in the security services industry, Sorrells now creates content promoting and discussing the private security industry while maintaining his position as president of DSI.
Secretary/Treasurer
Pablo Colombres, CPP
Regional Director of Investigation and Security, GIF International
Colombres has been a member of ASIS since 2009 and served as an assistant regional vice president, regional vice president, on the Latin American Advisory Council, as an at-large director on the global board, and as the chair of the Latin America Caribbean Regional Board. Colombres has more than 20 years of experience in the security industry.

William Tenney
CEO, ASIS International
William “Bill” Tenney is a Navy veteran and recognized professional in the fields of corporate security, intelligence, and business resilience. In the private sector, Tenney has built and led corporate security teams at MetLife, Bloomberg LP, and Target. He also served in the foreign service in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York.

Serving as at-large directors are Wilson Esangbedo, CPP (Nigeria); Karen Frank, CPP (United States); Rick Kelly, CPP (United States); Lisa Oliveri, CPP, PCI (United States); Axel Petri, CPP (Germany); and C. Joshua Villines, CPP, PCI, PSP (United States).
Regional representatives on the Global Board of Directors include Danny Chan, Chair, Asia Pacific Regional Board (Singapore); Andrew Williams, CPP, Chair, European Regional Board (UK); Mark Folmer, CPP, PSP, Chair, North American Regional Board (Canada); and Marco Vega, CPP, Chair, Latin America Caribbean Regional Board (Costa Rica).
Ex-officio voting members include Maria Teresa Septien, CPP, Past Chair, ASIS Foundation (Mexico), and Anders Noyes, CPP, Past Chair, CSO Center (United States).
Ex-officio non-voting members include Brian Lipscomb, PSP, Past Chair, Professional Certification Board (United States), and Lisa C. DuBrock, CPP, Past Chair, Professional Standards Board (United States).
In addition to the existing North American, European, and Latin America Caribbean regional boards, this year ASIS International seated the first regional board representing Asia Pacific Oceania. ASIS also continues to work with the Middle East North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa to transform regional advisory groups into cross-country representative steering committees as they continue to work toward developing a regional board in those regions.

Apply for an IE Business School Scholarship
The ASIS Foundation is now accepting applications for scholarships that will allow security executives to attend the 2025 Effective Management for Security Professionals executive education program at the prestigious IE Business School.
The scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition for the recipient’s 2025 course, held from 23-27 June 2025 in Madrid, Spain.
The program is designed to help security professionals refine their business acumen by developing key interdisciplinary competencies that will supplement their technical expertise. Experienced professors and lecturers led by an expert senior security professional will guide attendees through modern security challenges and teach them the necessary skills to overcome these challenges.
Participants will work through five modules over four and a half days, with each module focused on a different area of management.
- Module 1: Creating a Strategic Mindset
- Module 2: Applying for Financial Information
- Module 3: Negotiation
- Module 4: Creating Leadership Strategies in Crisis Management
- Module 5: Leading in Uncertainty
Applicants for this scholarship must be current ASIS members in good standing and must be senior security executives, such as a chief security officer or another senior security executive.
Applications are open now and due 12 March 2025. All applications will be reviewed by the ASIS Foundation Scholarship & Grants Committee. If accepted for the scholarship, the applicant must also apply for admission to the executive program and be accepted by the IE Business School.
