Certification Profile: Ali Nomais, CPP, PCI, PSP
Ali Nomais, CPP, PCI, PSP, first became curious about the security industry while attending college. Nomais was intrigued by the constantly evolving threat landscape that security professionals are charged with navigating, and excited by the crucial role security plays in safeguarding individuals and organizations.
Nomais has worked with Saudi Aramco since 2007, filling various roles including security officer, 911 dispatcher, shift coordinator, and investigation and risk analysis. Nomais first became familiar with ASIS after attending the ASIS Middle East Conference in 2018.
“The conference provided me with a platform to meet and engage with seasoned security professionals, fostering insightful discussions and expanding my knowledge about certification programs,” Nomais says.
Motivated by his enriching experience at the conference, Nomais became involved with the local Dhahran chapter in Saudi Arabia. In October 2022, Nomais attended a Certified Protection Professional (CPP®) certification preparation course, which kickstarted his ASIS certification journey.
Nomais earned the CPP certification in January 2023, but he didn’t stop there. Just two months later, Nomais earned the Physical Security Professional (PSP®) certification, passing the exam on his first attempt, and in July 2023, he earned the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI®) certification. In just six months, Nomais was able to achieve the prestigious ASIS Triple Crown. He contributes his success in part to his “nothing is impossible” mindset, always pushing himself with dedication and determination.
“Achieving the certification helped me stand out among my peers, demonstrating my commitment to professional excellence,” Nomais says. “It provided me with a competitive edge in the job market, increased my credibility with employers and clients, and opened doors to new opportunities for advancement and career growth.”
In addition to studying for and earning his certifications, Nomais attended a number of webinars in 2023, as well as Global Security Exchange (GSX) in Dallas, Texas. ASIS International’s wealth of resources helps Nomais stay at the top of his game by continually expanding his knowledge base and keeping him at the forefront of security practices, he says.
After participating as an informal member of ASIS for many years, Nomais became an official member at the beginning of 2024. He highlights the benefits of being a member, particularly the networking experience.
“ASIS membership has opened doors to new career opportunities and has helped me establish credibility and recognition within the security industry,” Nomais says. “My favorite part of membership is the ability to engage with like-minded professionals and learn from their experiences and perspectives, fostering continuous growth and development in my career.”
Currently, Nomais works as a risk analyst and security specialist with Saudi Aramco, where he is responsible for conducting comprehensive risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, and developing strategies to mitigate security risks. In addition to his involvement with ASIS, Nomais serves on the IFPO Advisory Board for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was named Corporate Vision’s Young Industrial Security Professional of the Year in the Middle East.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to ASIS International for providing a platform that has facilitated my professional growth and success,” Nomais says. “The support, resources, and networking opportunities offered by the organization have been invaluable, allowing me to expand my skill set and make significant contributions to my field.”
