While school shootings often grab headlines, active assailants are not the only threat students and staff face at schools. “Other types of violence include sexual assault, robbery, physical attack or fights, and threats of physical attack (with or without a weapon),” according to a 2023 report from the Learning Policy Institute, Safe Schools, Thriving Students: What We Know About Creating Safe and Supportive Schools.
