Planning Your Wednesday at GSX 2021

There’s a lot in the line-up for Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Wednesday, 29 September, of GSX 2021. Use the schedule below to plan your day—all times in Eastern Standard Time.

      • 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Registration/Badge Pickup Open

      • 7:30 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. Online Exclusive Sessions

    • 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. General Session featuring Lieutenant General (ret) Nadja West on “Leading Through Uncertainty.”
      • According to Nadja West, the most essential quality in a great leader is empathy – where “leading is all about the team of people you lead.” This is especially true in times of crisis and uncertainty. In this presentation, Nadja draws on her over 20 years of experience in executive leadership, crisis management, and disaster response – including leading more than 130,000 Army healthcare professionals and crafting the DOD medical response to the Ebola crisis – to provide effective leadership tactics during difficult times. Throughout these challenges, she thought strategically, developed confidence, and stayed connected to her sense of purpose. Sharing her career lessons-learned, West demonstrates that good leadership and a loyal team come from strong communication, truly understanding your people, treating them with respect, and leading with empathy, particularly through hard times.

    • 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Exhibit Hall Open

    • 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Concurrent Sessions, both in-person and livestream

  • 12:45 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. “SM Live”
    • Brought to you by the Security Management team, “SM Live” is an exclusive one-hour show featuring on-the-spot interviews with CSOs, industry veterans, innovators, and more—just for in-person and digital All-Access attendees.

  • 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Gamechanger Session: “From the Battle to the Board: Management Lessons from Female Military Leaders”
    • Women face a unique set of challenges, whether in the command center or the C-suite—yet they can be extraordinarily successful! This panel of senior military leaders will discuss the unique traits women bring to the workplace and how to harness and leverage those traits for success. They will describe barriers to career progression—including some we unknowingly create—and provide solutions for turning those barriers into turnstiles to success, such as leveraging the power of mentorship. While sharing their personal stories of success and failures, panel members will explain how they learned to make decisions around what is most important, manage their time, and obtain work/life balance for personal and professional well-being and enhanced success.

Additionally, by downloading the GSX app—from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store—all attendees can browse sessions, create their learning agendas, connect with exhibitors, and engage in networking discussions.
