MUNICIPAL SURVEILLANCE

Saratoga Springs, New York, perhaps best known for its Saratoga Race Course, welcomes visitors to its sporting events, museums, restaurants, and other attractions. To protect residents and guests, the Saratoga Springs Safety Committee engaged Digital Surveillance Solutions (DSS) as an integrator to upgrade its surveillance for city hall and city streets.

DSS started by installing cameras using a wireless network and centralized video recording server at city hall. The server uses the Milestone XProtect Corporate software platform, and video streams are monitored by the police department. Later, independent Milestone XProtect Essential systems were installed in Congress Park and various city departments. These systems can be monitored on demand from the police station.

Cameras in the installation include analog and digital models from Axis Communications, Bosch, American Dynamics, IQeye, and Mobotix. Analog cameras are digitally converted by an Axis video encoder.
