Getting to Know Ahamed Mohammed, CPP, PCI, PSP

Meet Brigadier General (Rtd) Ahamed Mohammed, CPP, PCI, PSP. He is an international consultant on peace and security, a fellow of the Kenya Institute of Management, and the current chairman of the ASIS Kenya Chapter. In 2019, he was a PCB Certification Award winner at GSX.

Q. What does ASIS mean to you?
A. A community of security professionals and practitioners devoted and committed to expanding and enriching the knowledge base, best practices, and certifications globally.

Q. What book has inspired you or enriched your life?
A. The Leader Who Had No Title by Robin Sharma taught me the art of self and servant leadership.

Q. What is your proudest moment or accomplishment?
A. I successfully coached the first local CPP certification course for eight people in Kenya between January and March last year. I sat for the exam on Friday and passed. The rest of the class sat and passed the exam the following Monday, which was a very proud and commendable accomplishment. Today, we are the leaders to beat in the region on matters of ASIS certification, and we train our neighbors in Congo and Uganda, with Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Tanzania to come onboard next year.

Q. What advice do you give to new folks in the industry?
A. Excellence in all that I do. My advice to new folks is, as you begin your career in security, strive to be the best in your respective specialty. Be a role model, with excellence as your hallmark.

Q. If you were in charge of the world, what would you do first?
A. I would remove all political and state boundaries and create a free world at peace with herself; with all people under one common universal governance system and with equality, love, freedom, and happiness for all.
