While the live Global Security Exchange (GSX) event took place in September, attendees are still making the most of their GSX registration. All-Access attendees can access all GSX sessions on demand, join an upcoming encore event, and more until the end of 2021 through the GSX digital platform.

Boasting more than 100 sessions, the GSX 2021 education lineup addresses the strategies today’s security professionals need to know about evolving global security threats, minimize resource and time constraints, understand the best approaches to cybersecurity and remote workforces, and engage the entire enterprise in security best practices. 

Four general sessions offer an outside perspective on some of the most important issues facing security, including:

• “Breaking the Spell of High Conflict,” presented by Amanda Ripley

Innovative game changer sessions deliver insights from security leaders from the public and private sectors, including:

• “Keeping Pace with Cyber Threats: Developing a Future Focused Risk Posture”
• “Post-Pandemic Workplace: The Mental Health and Wellness of Employees”
• “From the Battle to the Board: Management Lessons from Female Military Leaders”

While viewing sessions in the digital platform, attendees can chat with their peers. On 10 November, a special GSX 2021 encore event will rebroadcast top-attended sessions from the live event, with the presenter in attendance to answer audience questions in real time.

It’s not over ‘til it’s over! There’s still time left on the clock for All-Access registrants to tune in. GSX’s industry-leading security education is accessible through the end of the year. ASIS certification holders are eligible to receive up to 21 continuing professional education (CPE) credits through participation in GSX.

Giving Back to Security’s Future

Since 1966, the ASIS Foundation has helped security professionals grow in their understanding of the security field. Through generous gifts from individuals, chapters, communities, and organizations, the Foundation helps security professionals achieve their career goals with certification scholarships, practical research, member hardship grants, and more.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation created a $100,000 grant program in 2021 for ASIS members in need. Individuals severely impacted by the pandemic were encouraged to apply for a grant to renew their ASIS membership for free or to receive a complimentary online certification study program.

“Giving back to the security community is what the ASIS Foundation does best,” says Brian Allen, CPP, chair of the ASIS Foundation Board of Trustees.

Each year, the Foundation provides more than 170 grants and scholarships to support security professionals’ career growth. Since 2018, the Foundation’s Certification Accelerator program offers every ASIS chapter the gift of a free certification exam for one of its members—on top of dozens of other scholarships and grants for individuals to attain their certification and higher education goals.

In the past year alone, the Foundation has:

• Awarded 232 COVID-19 Support Grants to members in 32 countries to assist those who had lost jobs and income due to the pandemic.
• Awarded 21 Chapter Starter Kit Grants to support ASIS chapters in hosting their own certification preparation classes.
• Awarded 166 Certification Scholarships to members in 49+ countries to directly support members pursuing professional ASIS certification.
• Funded new research on the State of Security Management and the changes in security convergence since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

To fund this important work going forward, the Foundation relies on your support. ASIS members are invited to support the Foundation with a donation when they renew their membership for 2022. Please consider supporting the Foundation to reach its goal of $40,000 this renewal season.

ASIS Foundation Fitness Challenge

The ASIS Foundation conducted its first virtual Fitness Challenge from 18 August to 27 September. The event raised more than $18,000 for research and scholarships, and it attracted more than 175 participants and donors from 23 countries.
