Megan Gates is the senior editor at Security Management covering emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, banking and finance, cultural properties security, executive protection, and legal issues related to the security profession. Additionally, on Fridays she covers breaking news security incidents with analysis from practitioners or individuals impacted as part of the publication's Today in Security articles. Gates is also the editor-in-chief of the magazine's tech supplement, Security Technology.
She has received numerous awards for her writing, including the ASBPE 2022 Stephen Barr Award for Feature Writing and a 2021 APEX Award of Excellence for Technical and Technology Writing. In addition to being published by Security Management, her work's been featured in Reuters, USA TODAY College, The Springfield Business Journal, The Cedar Rapids Gazette, Celebrate Arkansas Magazine, and The Joplin Globe. She holds a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism with a minor in Film Studies from Missouri State University.
