Industry News: August 2014

NANO-OPTIC BADGES

At its 30th anniversary conference, TED, a nonprofit organization devoted to “ideas worth spreading,” chose nanotechnology to add authentication and branding to its ID badges. The badges were used for event access at the TED2014 and TEDActive 2014 conferences.

The KolourOptik technology from Nanotech Security Corporation produces optically variable images that can be applied to virtually any surface for anti-counterfeit and branding purposes. The images result from billions of nano-scale surface holes that capture and reformulate light waves into brilliant colors without pigments or dyes. Images on the ID badges offer a resolution of more than 50,000 dots per inch.

The images change when tilted or rotated, making them very difficult to reproduce or counterfeit. Take a look at the variable images via the new Security Management app for Apple and Android tablet devices.
