PROTECTING LADY LIBERTY

The Statue of Liberty reopened to the public on July 4, 2013, after eight months of renovation and repairs following Hurricane Sandy. As part of the refurbishment, Total Recall Corporation reached out to the U.S. Park Police, the National Park Service, and the Department of the Interior with a proposal for a state-of-the-art surveillance system that would be designed, installed, and maintained as a donation by the company.

Total Recall completely redesigned the surveillance and security system, switching from analog to the latest IP-based video technology and building a modern command center. A combination of wireless and fiber connections allow the system to cover more areas of the Liberty Island and the monument than before.

Helping bring the project to completion were nine partner companies: Axis Communications, BriefCam, DragonWave, Milestone Systems, Pivot3, Proxim Wireless, RGB Spectrum, Scallop Imaging, and Winsted Corporation. Shown here, the original torch is displayed in the monument’s lobby. Watch a video about the project via the new Security Managementapp for Apple and Android tablet devices.
