05/01/2013 -Three additional suspects were taken into custody Monday afternoon in connection with the Boston marathon attacks, according to the Boston Police Department’sTwitter page. The department later put out areleasestating that there were no existing threats to the public, and that "Additional details will be provided when they become available."

While the three individuals arrested have not been named, law enforcement officials speaking on the condition of anonymity told theWashington Post that the three suspects “disposed of material at a Boston area landfill at the request of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev following the bombings.” Federal investigators had earlier searched a landfill in New Bedford, Massachusetts, following a tip that evidence may have been located there.

USA Today reports that they were college roommates of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. They are reportedly not suspected of having knowlege of the plot or of participating but were said to have been obstructing the investigation by disposing of some items. Two of the three were being held already on allegations that they had violated their student visas while at Dartmouth, USA Today reports.
