Cyber Warfare: Techniques, Tactics, and Tools for Security Practitioners

Cyber Warfare: Techniques, Tactics, and Tools for Security Practitioners. By Jason Andress and Steve Winterfeld. Syngress/Elsevier, www.elsevier; 320 pages; $39.95.

Apparently aimed at a military audience, this book offers concepts and examples largely from the U.S. military. Surprisingly, the authors left out the basic standards that now apply to the military from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Federal Information Processing Standards, and Special Publications.

Limited graphics were used; many were screen shots from security products and government document covers, which did not always augment or enhance the text. The book also could have discussed more educational certifications that are available for professionals.
