AeroMexico Plane Hijacked by Three Men; Lands in Mexico City Safely

09/09/2009 -Mexican media reports three men have siezed a passenger plane and threatened to blow it up unless they are allowed to meet with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, according to a breaking Reuters report.

So far, the details are minimum, reports Reuters.

An AeroMexico passenger plane was hijacked at the airport in the Mexican resort of Cancun on Wednesday and flown to Mexico City's international airport. Transport Minister Juan Molinar told Mexican radio the aircraft had landed safely.

Whether the hijacking is related to Calderon's war against the Mexico's powerful and ultraviolent drug trafficking rings is not yet clear.

More to follow as the situation develops.
