White House Makes Case Against House FISA Bill

10/16/2007 -The White House opposes efforts by the House to change the Protect America Act (which expires in February 2008) and tighten restrictions on when wiretaps can be obtained under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). It lays out its case in thisfact sheet.

The White House asserts that the House bill (H.R. 3773) would restrict overseas wiretap authority, impose burdensome oversight requirements, and generally impede intelligence collection.
