ASIS board certifications serve as a visible acknowledgement of your mastery of security principles and security management skills. Certification can demonstrate your commitment to excellence, help you stand out in a competitive industry, and empower you to be a better security practitioner.

That’s why ASIS is making July Certification Month. This month, ASIS will highlight a different certification each week, as well as offer discounts on prep materials and courses, and host certification-focused live webinars.

In addition to the special certification deals and resources ASIS is offering this July, there is a wealth of certification resources available year-round. Explore our certification resources below!

Not sure where to start? The Self-Assessment Guide is designed to help you determine which certification is right for you and assess your exam readiness. ASIS offers four certifications: Associate Protection Professional (APP®), Certified Protection Professional (CPP®), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI®), and Physical Security Professional (PSP®).

The Certification Handbook is a detailed overview of all things certification. Here you can learn more about what certification is, as well as the policies and procedures related to getting certified.

Prefer video? Check out the ASIS Board Certification playlist on YouTube. Here, you’ll find short videos with quick overviews of various aspects of certification, as well as more in-depth Ask Me Anything webinars covering a range of topics related to certification.

The ASIS Store includes a number of study resources for all four ASIS certifications. You can purchase both physical and digital flash cards, study manuals, and online reviews.

In addition to the many online resources you can access anytime, anywhere, ASIS offers in-person certification review courses for the APP, CPP, and PSP certifications prior to GSX. This year, the two-day courses will be 27-28 September in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

Once you feel ready, check out the Prepare for Test Day page for more information on scheduling your exam, test-taking strategies, and testing software info.

After earning your certification, it’s important to maintain your certification through the recertification process. You can learn more about recertification here.

If you are interested in certification but concerned about the cost, consider applying for an ASIS Foundation Certification scholarship. The application window for scholarships is usually open in the spring, so keep an eye out for communication about scholarships opening if you are interested in applying.

Making the decision to leap into certification can be daunting, but it can help to see how earning certification has affected other security practitioners. The Certification Profile column in Security Management shares the stories of members who have earned certification in the past.

ASIS members receive discounts on all ASIS products, including certification and recertification fees – so if you’re considering getting certified, consider becoming a member too!
