Wednesday, 3 June 2026

10:00 – 10:10 am | Welcome and summarize purpose of conference, objective, and anticipated outcomes

10:10 – 11:00 am | Opening Keynote: Pathway to Hope vs. Pathway to Violence: You Pick

For years, the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit has worked to understand offenders who commit targeted violence to prevent future attacks. Through operational case support on known individuals contemplating violence, or offenders who have committed targeted attacks, research and experience has shown key offender characteristics are present for those who choose to perpetrate targeted violence. This presentation will assist with understanding the drivers to targeted violence and how to protect your workforce through the utilization of behavioral threat assessment and management. Recognizing concerning behaviors early and intervening effectively can move someone off the pathway to violence and onto the pathway to hope. Together, we can prevent tragedy.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
  • Recognize concerning behaviors that require early intervention
  • Identify when someone is progressing on the pathway to intended violence
  • Implement behavioral threat assessment and management effectively
Speaker:
  • Dr. Karie Gibson, unit chief at FBI/CIRG/Behavioral Analysis Unit-1/Behavioral Threat Assessment Center

11:00 – 11:10 am | Break

11:10 am – 12:10 pm | Insider Risk in Canada: Key Trends, Challenges, and Strategies from the National Survey

Insider risk continues to evolve as one of the most complex challenges facing organizations today. Drawing on findings from Deloitte Canada and the Canadian Insider Risk Management Centre of Excellence’s 2024–2025 national survey—along with early insights from the current survey—this session provides a data-driven look at the insider risk landscape across Canada. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how organizations are approaching insider risk management, what strategies are proving effective, and where gaps and challenges remain. The session will also explore practical considerations for implementing controls and strengthening programs in a rapidly changing threat environment.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the current insider risk management landscape in Canada
  • Assess emerging trends and practices used to manage insider threats
  • Identify key challenges and considerations when implementing insider risk controls
Speaker:
  • Victor Monro | senior manager, national insider risk management lead & global security, Deloitte, CEO, Canadian Insider Risk Management Centre of Excellence, and secretary general, Insider Risk Practitioner Alliance

12:10 – 12:20 pm | Break

12:20 – 1:20 pm | AI-Enhanced ESRM: Charting the Future of Data-Focused Security Risk Management

As global threats evolve rapidly, enterprise security risk management (ESRM) programs must keep pace. Artificial Intelligence (AI) enables proactive threat identification, continuous monitoring, and data-driven decisions. However, it also raises questions about ethics, governance, and the impact of future computing advances. This session explores AI’s role in enhancing ESRM strategies across physical and digital security domains and highlights real-world examples, such as automating incident detection and providing faster risk insights, while addressing privacy, bias, and oversight concerns. Participants will gain practical steps for leveraging automation to strengthen ESRM programs without compromising human judgment, fostering a more cohesive and resilient security posture.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
  • Recognize emerging challenges from AI adoption—covering IoT exposure and anticipated shifts in encryption standards.
  • Apply forward-thinking risk detection and trending techniques by integrating AI into existing frameworks for continuous monitoring and an agile defense posture.
  • Establish a governance approach to handle ethical and regulatory complexities in AI-driven security operations while maintaining appropriate human oversight, ensuring sound judgment alongside automated processes.
Speakers:
  • Rachelle Loyear, CISM, MBCP, and PMP | vice president, sales integrated solutions at Allied Universal
