Three-day event delivered 200+ education sessions and showcased 500+ exhibiting companies in New Orleans
New Orleans, LA/Alexandria, VA (13 October 2025)—Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2025 has concluded at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. Presented by ASIS International, the world's largest association for security management professionals, the event offered discussion and idea exchanges for the global security community. GSX attracted nearly 15,000 registrants from 95 countries, 200+ education sessions along with 500+ exhibiting companies demonstrating the latest security solutions.
As ASIS International marked its 70th anniversary, its 2025 President, Joe Olivarez, Jr., MBA, shared that we stand at pivotal moment where the security profession has never been more critical, more visible, or more influential in shaping the world's security landscape. "The security profession has evolved from being primarily operational to increasingly strategic, with professionals now gaining more visibility in executive-level discussions and broader executive roles," stated Olivarez. "Today's security leaders don't just respond to threats, we anticipate them, and drive organizational resilience through them."
GSX was supplemented by a weekend of pre-conference events on Saturday and Sunday, including a full-day workshop titled Plan to Succeed: Integrating Protective Intelligence to Secure Physical, Cyber and Human Assets, ASIS Volunteers’ Day, the ASIS Awards of Excellence and the Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs), and Secure Horizons (ASIS International’s CSO Center’s immersive experience for senior security professionals). ASIS also hosted pre-conference education including ASIS certification reviews and workshops on facility security design, Enterprise Security Risk Management (ESRM), and stakeholder communication.
Ian Bremmer, President and Founder, Eurasia Group and GZERO Media, kicked off the first day’s programming with an insightful keynote session with a discussion on how the world has entered a period of heightened tensions and market volatility. His presentation, titled “The New Abnormal: Who are the Winners and Losers in a G-Zero World?” discussed the current and unprecedented environment in which conventional wisdom no longer holds.
In his comments, Bremmer remarked, “China is rising and the Global South in general is becoming economically more powerful, more populous, more dynamic, and more interesting technology companies coming out of those places. But the United States is not declining, not at all.”
The second day’s general session featured, The AI-Powered Security Paradigm, featured best-selling, Top 100 AI Author, former Amazon & Fortune 100 C-Suite Executive, Sol Rashidi. She recounted the original intention for AI from when she was a key driver helping to launch IBM’s Watson.
According to Rashidi, “We never built Watson to replace people. We built it to amplify us. AI was never meant to replace and erode our ability to think critically, independently, and autonomously. It was meant to accelerate. It was meant to facilitate, and we are forgetting those foundational principles.”
The second day of GSX also featured a speed-mentoring session that connected emerging security professionals with 40 experienced mentors from four continents, fostering global knowledge exchange and career development opportunities. The second day of GSX concluded with ASIS Celebrates! at the National WWII Museum sponsored by Johnson Controls. Thousands of attendees enjoyed exhibits, in-person, and multi-media performances with exclusive access to the museum.
The final day of GSX celebrated Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (MLEAD). To honor those who serve and protect, ASIS began the day with a special breakfast event, sponsored by Protos Security, celebrating the dedication of active duty and retired professionals from law enforcement, military service, and emergency response fields. ASIS extends its gratitude to service members worldwide for their tireless efforts in safeguarding our communities.
Wednesday’s general session keynote presentation featured Gen. Paul M. Nakasone (ret.) as keynote address, “Lasting Leadership Lessons from the World’s Second Oldest Profession.” Gen. Nakasone led the largest and most technically advanced component of the U.S. Intelligence Community, the National Security Agency (NSA) for nearly six years. GSX marked the start of Cyber Security Awareness Month with the speech by the former U.S. Cyber Command leader that spoke of leadership during transition, both societal and technological and his pivotal role in the establishment of the organization and the evolving threat landscape. As he remarked to attendees, “We have a number of nations that are operating adversely in cyberspace (i.e., China, Russia, North Korea and Iran). We also have a convergence between physical and cyber security, and are witnessing the most disruptive technology of our time in artificial intelligence.”
Among the robust learning opportunities at GSX, there were Game Changer sessions on resilience, trust and maintaining the highest level of security during times of crisis. Speed learning sessions on the exhibit show floor, took place on the X Stage, the Resilience Zone, and the School Security Zone. At Career HQ, security professionals were offered resume reviews, access to the headshot studio, and professional development sessions.
"Each year, ASIS refines GSX educational programming, demonstrating the fast-changing scope of our industry. From the headlining keynotes to over 200 specialized education sessions which included deep dives into our pioneering standards on executive protection and school security – the dynamic nature of our industry was on full display,” said Bill Tenney, CEO, ASIS International. “As we look ahead to GSX 2026 in Atlanta, we’re excited about the opportunity to show our adaptability and the rising importance of security professionals to protect organizations and communities across the globe."
GSX offered attendees the opportunity to earn up to 22 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. For details on earning CPE credits at GSX, visit the FAQs under the “Registration” section.
The ASIS community raised nearly $35,000 for the ASIS Foundation through GSX and pre-event activities like the Virtual Fitness Challenge (which had 120 participants from 21 countries) and the first-ever 5K Road Race sponsored by Restrata and Concentric. These donations support career advancement through certification scholarships, research, and member hardship grants. This year’s event also featured a blood drive in partnership with the Blood Center, collecting enough blood to save up to 170 lives.
According to New Orleans & Company, the official destination sales and marketing organization for New Orleans’ tourism industry, GSX 2025 generated an estimated $11 million in economic impact for the city of New Orleans.
