Tools to Assist In Your CSO Ambassador Role
Commitment: Ad-Hoc/Short Term
Number of positions available: Unlimited
Term: To assignment completion
Volunteers are asked to reach out to a new member on 3 separate occasions to welcome them, share information about the CSO Center, offer insights and be a resource as it relates to the CSO Center. This is NOT a mentor program. The time commitment averages about a total of 30-45 minutes over a 6-week period and can be completed at the convenience of the volunteer. Suggested messages/content and timing is all provided to you. It's a very easy task, but incredibly rewarding!
As a CSO Center Ambassador, you play a crucial role in helping create lasting impressions and connections for our newly accepted CSO Center members. To help with your outreach, we’ve created a toolkit for you to reference with the cadence and email topics to cover. These are only starting points. Feel free to customize your message to suit your personal experience, relationship, and style. If you have questions or need assistance, contact the CSO Center at [email protected].
We suggest these three outreach messages with the following purposes:
-
Email 1 (Day 1-7): Welcome, introduce yourself, mention most popular benefits and profile creation
-
Email 2 (Day 21): Check in, plug the “start here” page, reinforce community/network
-
Email 3 (Day 45): Send off, tease of volunteering for the Ambassador role
Be sure to add calendar reminders to reach out to your assigned new member. Below we share the recommended timeline on when to reach out.
If you’re interested in participating as a New Member Ambassador again, please resubmit your name via this form. Thank you!

Topic: Check In
When to Send: Day 21 (about 3 weeks after first ambassador email)
Subject Line: Helpful CSO Center Resources
Hi [NAME],
I hope all is well! I wanted to check in to see how you were enjoying the CSO Center. By now, I hope you’ve utilized the many CSO Center resources available to you including the CSO Center Resource Library, member directory, benchmarking surveys, and the virtual programs to network, collaborate, and learn.
As senior leaders, I’m sure you face the same questions regularly: How can we stay informed on security trends and the global landscape so that we can safely, securely, reliably, and predictably keep our people and assets safe?
The CSO Center membership has been a strong partner and a valuable resource in helping me address those questions, from the connections I’ve made, the global network I’ve built, and the programming and resources that are available as a member.
There are many ways to reap the benefits of your membership, and a great place to start is the CSO Center welcome page, where many of the programs, benefits and opportunities are laid out for you in a one-stop spot. [IF NEW MEMBER HAS NOT YET DONE SO, PLEASE INCLUDE: If you haven’t yet done so, don’t forget to share a little bit about yourself in our CSO Connects community. Your colleagues would love to learn more about you.]
In addition, I’m here to be a resource to you to help you take advantage of all the CSO Center has to offer and help you get acclimated to your membership. Let me know if you’d like to chat, or feel free to respond by email to discuss further.
Sincerely,
