Chapter Onboarding Toolkit

ASIS New Member Onboarding Resources for Chapters

As local representatives of ASIS International, your efforts to help welcome and engage new members in your area make a difference in a member’s journey. Knowing they have peers in their area who want to help, immediately creates a sense of belonging.

Develop Your Onboarding Process

To help in your efforts, we’re sharing the following resources for you to review and reflect upon as you design your own onboarding process for new members. We encourage you to highlight what your chapter feels will be most impactful and if you would like to further brainstorm, we’d love to help – please reach out to [email protected].

Resources to Consider

ASIS Onboarding Process-200x130.pngASIS Onboarding Process
Understand what HQ is sharing so that your own process can complement and enhance the efforts on a local level.

New Member Portal-200x136.pngASIS New Member Portal
Direct new members to a landing page designed to help them orient themselves with a quick overview of benefits and first steps.

New Member Orientation-200x130.pngASIS New Member Orientations
Encourage new members join a live member orientation. Hosted bi-monthly, these one hour Zoom orientations walk members through the ASIS website, Connects, and the mentoring program. Orientation recordings are also available in the Members Resource Library in Connects.

Memberlogo-200x149.pngMember Logos and Zoom Backgrounds
Help members easily showcase their membership with an ASIS member logo and fun zoom backgrounds.

Member Badge-200x130.pngASIS Member Badge, Certificate, and Digital Member Card
Ensure members know how to access their member badge, certificate, and digital member card issued by Credly.

Communication Pref-200x130.pngCommunication Settings
Empower new members by helping them manage their communication settings. The last thing we want to do is turn a new member off via too many emails – ensure they’ve reviewed their settings. We recommend they at least opt into Fast Five, their monthly member newsletter, and Knowledge and Learning for educational updates. Please use the email address you log into ASIS with.

Community-200x130.pngNew Member Community on Connects
Remind new members of their new member community which they are part of for the first 6 months of their member journey. With a library of quick member links, discussion board for questions and introductions, and reminders pertinent to new members – this community helps engage them quickly.

Next Steps-200x130.pngNext Steps for Getting Involved
Outline next steps for new members with easy call to actions be it attending an upcoming chapter meeting, finding a mentor, learning more about the value of certification, joining a subject area community or community event, or attending GSX!
