School violence continues to be a challenge we all face as millions of children are sent off to school each day. Denver Public Schools has implemented an integrated solution district wide utilizing access control, video management, intrusion and telecom to protect over 100,000 people each day across 200 schools and facilities. Leaders who are looking to expand security through a system integrated approach for multiple locations/campuses and anyone responsible for school security should attend. This session is designed for those looking for a centralized solution to physical security and response, specifically in a multi-facility environment.

Learning Objectives:​

Participants will be able to:

  • Develop emergency management response plans across multiple locations using an integrated technology approach.
  • Integrate access control, video management, telecom and intrusion to protect company assets and personnel.
  • Strategically align and direct internal and external resources during emergency situations that may ultimately save lives.​​


​​Michael Eaton is the Chief of the Department of Safety for Denver Public Schools (DPS). The DPS is the largest school district in Colorado servicing over 91,000 students, 15,000 employees and 200 schools. Mr. Eaton’s responsibilities include overseeing approximately 145 staff that provide 24/7 safety and security services to the district. Mr. Eaton is also responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of all access control, video surveillance and other security related infrastructure throughout the district. Prior to joining DPS, Mr. Eaton was the Director of Safety and Security at Johnson & Wales University. He currently holds a Master of Public Administration degree, and B.S. in Criminal Justice. He is also currently the President of the Colorado Association of School Safety and Law Enforcement Officers.​​

 Cancellation and Transfer Policy


For a full refund or transfer credit, written requests must be received by ASIS at least three business days before the start date of the program. Those received less than three days prior will be charged a $25 cancellation/transfer fee.
