American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Structural Engineering Institute (SEI)
Civil engineers need guidance on how to design structures to resist various hostile acts. While U.S. military facilities and U.S. embassies both have developed unique security, the relevant technical documents are restricted to official use only. In recognition of this void, this report was produced to provide guidance to structural engineers in the design of civil structures to resist the effects of terrorist bombings. This publication includes unrestricted government information, which was rephrased for application to civilian facilities. This report is the first transfer of such technology to the civil sector and provides complete methods, guidance and references for structural engineers challenged with a physical security problem. Since its publication, this book has become an industry standard.
