Bonnie Michelman to Receive ASIS Women in Security Council Award

Industry veteran named 2017 recipient of Karen Marquez Memorial Honor; Award reception Sept 25 in Dallas

Alexandria, VA​The ASIS International Women in Security Council is pleased to name Bonnie Michelman, CPP, as the 2017 recipient of its Karen Marquez Memorial Honor. This award is presented annually to a female security professional who has consistently worked for the betterment of the industry.

"Throughout her career, Bonnie has exemplified what a true leader should be," said Donna Kobzaruk, chair, ASIS Women in Security Council. "Even as she continues to achieve her own goals and tackle increasingly impressive challenges, Bonnie still finds time to give back to our profession. Her commitment to excellence, professionalism, and support for our next generation security leaders is second to none."

Michelman currently serves as Executive Director of Police, Security, and Outside Services at Massachusetts General Hospital and is the Security Consultant for Partners Healthcare Inc., an organization comprising 13 hospitals, hundreds of offsite facilities, and a workforce over 100,000.

Her extensive leadership experience includes service as past president of ASIS International, the International Security Management Association, and the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety. Michelman has been an Instructor at Northeastern University, College of Criminal Justice in the Graduate and Undergraduate program for over 20 years. She is also on the Regional Board of Directors for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and chairs their National Security Committee.

She will be celebrated at the Karen Marquez Awards Event, Monday, Sept. 25 at the Tower of Club in Dallas, in conjunction with the ASIS International Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2017), taking place Sept 25-28 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, TX. Michelman will also be moderating an ASIS 2017 keynote panel Global Responses to Global Threats on Wednesday, September 27 and participating in a Sept. 26 "deep dive" education session, Mock Trial: The Aftermath of a Domestic Bombing
