ASIS International is saddened to share that longtime ASIS member Raymond R. Stommel, CPP, passed away on April 5, 2024. Raymond passed peacefully in his home at the age of 92.
Raymond had been a member of ASIS since 1976. During his tenure, he was an active volunteer, serving on the Board of Directors from 1986 to 1991, and as ASIS President in 1991.
Raymond started his career in the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer, where he served for over 20 years. During his time in the Army, he started the Army Tracker Dog Program. In 1978, he retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. Raymond then entered private security, where he worked as Director of Safety and Industrial Security for both Burroughs Corporation and Strohs Brewery.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at Gunderson Funeral Home in Middleton, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Raymond's name to Agrace HospiceCare or Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
