ASIS International is saddened to share the news of the passing of David Nicastro, CPP. Dave passed on July 1, 2024, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dave had a storied career in the security industry and was a longtime member of ASIS, joining in 1981.
He started his career in the U.S. military as a Marine, where he was stationed as a sergeant at the U.S. embassy in Lebanon. Dave returned home and majored in criminology at the University of Maryland before serving in the Secret Service for President Jimmy Carter.
After leaving the Secret Service, Dave began his career in private security. He provided executive protection for foreign dignitaries in the U.S. for a number of years before becoming Director of Global Security for Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas. In 1993, Dave founded Secure Source International, where he served as president and CEO.
As a member of ASIS, Dave was a member of multiple communities including the Enterprise and Security Risk Management community and the Executive Protection community, where he also served on the Steering Committee for many years.
Dave will certainly be missed, not only by his local North Texas chapter, but by the entire ASIS community.
