Hello fellow ASIS members,

As I reflect on my time as President of this remarkable association, I’m reminded of the power of relationships that have been the cornerstone of everything we’ve achieved together. Over the years, I have witnessed the immense value of the energy, passion, and dedication that our members bring to the table, whether you're a veteran in our industry, a rising leader, or someone just beginning your journey. Together, we have gathered from across the globe, united in our shared mission of excellence in the security industry.

As we prepare to enter an exciting new chapter for our association, I want to remind everyone that our future lies in strengthening these relationships. The new strategic plan will focus heavily on facilitating even stronger bonds within our industry and beyond. As we move forward, we are committed to fostering partnerships that benefit not only our profession but humanity. Security is more than a business; it’s about building resilient communities to ensure a safer tomorrow.

Over the course of 2024, we have had many great achievements, including –

Introducing a new CEO.

Unveiling our new strategic direction and path forward.

Launching two new standards (Security Risk Assessment Standard and Cannabis Security Standard). We also updated the public on our forthcoming School Security Standard at GSX 2024.

Releasing Complexities in the Global Security Market: 2024-2026 report in partnership with the Security Industry Association (SIA).

Growing our robust catalog of webinars addressing the latest industry trends.

Investing in programs that advance and unify the security profession in partnership with industry partners such as SIA and the International Foundation for Protection Officers (e.g., Security LeadHER and IFPO/ASIS certification partnership).

Supporting members through in-depth research developed by the ASIS Foundation - Autonomous Vehicles: Threats, Risks, and Opportunities and 46 certification scholarships.

Expanding our global and governance efforts in standing up our newest regional board – the Latin America Caribbean Regional Board.

Connecting more than 20,000 security professionals in-person via local chapter meetings, regional conferences, and GSX – the profession’s largest security exchange.

As the year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude. This year has been a remarkable journey, and your dedication, whether through volunteering, mentoring, or participating in our initiatives, has been inspiring. You have answered the call and in doing so, you’ve advanced not only the profession but our collective growth as a community. Together, we have created a global and noble force for good.

Thank you for 30 amazing years of support, camaraderie, and friendship. I look forward to seeing what we will achieve together as we continue this journey into the future.

With warmest regards,
Cy A. Oatridge, CPP
2024 President, ASIS International
