The convergence of cyber and physical security has never been more important as more security devices are added to a network.  

This session will focus on cybersecurity best practices for physical security implementations. The panel will include an open discussion on the fundamentals of cyber hardening multi-vendor integrated solutions, the goal of “base” level system hardening and how to address complications across cyber hardening settings in a multi-vendor platform. Attendees will hear real-life examples of applying individual cyber hardening guide setting across a unified surveillance system from camera to VMS through computing and storage as well as general lessons learned, best practices, pros and cons, and where to get assistance.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Attendees will better understand the fundamentals of cyber hardening a camera, the VMS and server, and storage
  • Attendees will comprehend the cause and effect of implementing and turning off service across the system.
  • Attendees will be able to apply what they have learned to their own network for better security

Colin Durocher is a Computer Engineer with over 20 years of experience in the Enterprise Storage and Data Protection industries, primarily as a Product Manager. Colin holds a BSc. in Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Northeastern University.

David Grey joined Genetec in April 2018 as a Product Manager, and is now the Appliances Product Line Manager. In this role, he acts as the commercial lead for the Genetec appliance line, and overseeing relationships with Genetec certified third party storage vendors. Prior to joining Genetec, David worked as a product manager for a digital storage manufacturer, gaining five years of experience in the IT industry.

Ryan Zatolokin is the business development manager, senior technologist for the business development team of Axis Communications.
