ASIS and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have enjoyed a strong working relationship for many years. In 2016, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further define this strategic partnership, as well as to encourage cooperation and collaboration on events and educational programs that will lead to a better understanding of the challenges facing the security industry and the protection of people, property, and information.

The FBI continues to strengthen its relationship with the U.S. business community through its Office of Private Sector. The Office of Private Sector provides a consistent point of contact for private industry to call who will connect them with the right FBI official to engage with – whatever the concern. The office also focuses on meaningful dialogue and engagement with private sector partners, and increases visibility and awareness for both private industry and the FBI on items of mutual interest, among other objectives.

In addition to the main office at FBI Headquarters, there is at least one private sector coordinator in every field office to help the FBI connect with private industry more effectively. Private sector coordinators are responsible for maintaining an understanding of the FBI’s engagement with private industry at the field office level and connecting them with the right FBI personnel to address whatever challenge they are facing. Private sector coordinators are available to listen to private industry’s risks and their concerns, and through partnership—help them to mitigate those risks. The Office of Private Sector also encourages private sector company leaders to have meaningful engagement with FBI field office leadership.
