ASIS International is committed to excellence as we serve our members and the profession at large. As we continue to update our technology platforms and communications strategies—and in support of upcoming changes to EU data protection law—we’re launching enhanced functionality around your privacy settings and updating our Privacy Policy.
Here’s a quick summary of the changes you can expect:
- GDPR updates. The upcoming General Data Protection Regulation places new obligations on organizations that process EU personal data. As a result, our revised Privacy Policy will be in compliance with this regulation and will serve as the benchmark for our approach to privacy for all data across the Society.
- Improved clarity and transparency. We’re reorganizing our Privacy Policy to make it clearer and more understandable, define key terms, and clarify data collection/usage practices. This includes detailed information regarding the use of cookies on our websites.
- Tools and features. We’re introducing an expanded profile tools in our My ASIS portal that allows you to provide the information you choose to help customize your experience and content delivery with ASIS. We are also improving opt out features so you have better control over your admin settings.
- Data protection. ASIS International values the privacy and integrity of our members, partners, attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors. We are reinforcing that we never sell your contact information, nor do we provide it to third-party vendors for distribution. Companies sometimes advertise ASIS lists for sale. This is a scam—please do not respond. If you ever have concerns about the validity of an offer you receive, please contact Member Services.
The majority of these updates will be in place by the end of May, with further updates to ASIS Connects launching soon after. We hope these enhancements will offer an improved ASIS experience for security professionals around the globe, and we will continue to work hard to offer best-in-class service, along with our content, education, events, and other programs.
