ASIS International and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate Renew Memorandum of Understanding

Alexandria, VA 2017-03-24

ASIS International, the leading association for security management professionals worldwide, today announced it has renewed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), ensuring continued collaboration between ASIS International members and the agency.

"This MOU facilitates critical working relationships and information sharing between ASIS members and exhibitors, and government program directors," said Peter J. O'Neil, CEO, ASIS International. "It helps advance technical innovation for national security and the security profession as a whole."

S&T's Director of Research and Development Partnerships, Jay Martin notes "the MOU assists S&T in communicating DHS technology needs more broadly to industry by leveraging the extensive ASIS network of security professionals."

The formal partnership between ASIS and DHS began in 2014. Over the past three years, representatives from DHS have engaged with security professionals and technology innovators at ASIS International's Annual Seminar and Exhibits and have connected with the community in a variety of other forums including speaking engagements, technology demonstrations, social media platforms, email and webinars.
