ASIS International Appoints Shannon Burch as New Vice President, Events and Business Development

Alexandria, Va. 2016-06-06

ASIS International (ASIS) has announced Shannon Burch, CEM, as the new Vice President of Events and Business Development. Burch, who previously served as Director of Exhibits, now oversees the entirety of the ASIS International Annual Seminar and Exhibits, as well as overall business development. ASIS is the leading organization for security management professionals worldwide.

“We are pleased to have Shannon step into this expanded role,” says Peter J. O’Neil, CAE, Chief Executive Officer, ASIS International. “Her vast institutional knowledge and longtime success with the Exhibits portion of our Annual Seminar make her ideally suited for this new Vice President position.”

Burch has been with ASIS for twenty-four years and has overseen the growth of the ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits, which tripled in size from 80,000 square feet to 225,000 square feet. During her tenure, the show has evolved from a niche event to a broad show encompassing the entire security spectrum. Burch is positive about the future of ASIS, “We want to implement and utilize new event technologies, engagement, and learning techniques to make ASIS International not only the leading provider of education and events in the security industry, but also to be known as a leader of innovative events.”

The 62nd Annual Seminar and Exhibits, taking place September 12-15, 2016, in Orlando, Florida, will be the first conference under Burch’s leadership. With more than 20,000 cyber and operational security professionals expected to attend and a tradeshow floor with new educational opportunities such as the Systems Integrator track and Residential Security Pavilion, this year’s program is shaping up to be a memorable year. O’Neil concludes, “We’re confident that Shannon’s tradeshow expertise and security industry knowledge will help grow ASIS International this year and in the years to come.”
