FAIRFAX, VA – March 16, 2011 – The 2011 Government Security Conference & Expo (GovSec) featuring the U.S. Law Enforcement Conference & Exposition, produced by the 1105 Event Group, announced today that ASIS International (ASIS) the preeminent organization for security management professionals, will operate the ASIS Bookstore and present a free session about the value of pursuing highly recognized certifications for the security profession.
“As the top show for government security professionals, we continue to find ways to expand the knowledge and services that will benefit our attendees,” said Don Berey, GovSec events director.  “We are excited for the ASIS Bookstore to be an integral part of our event. And recognizing the importance of certification to our attendees, we’re honored to have ASIS lend its expertise in a free session that will show them how they can gain their CPP, PCI or PSP designations.”
“GovSec provides ASIS with an exceptional outlet for serving the needs of government security professionals and enhances the protection of people, property and information in the U.S.,” said Michael Stack, chief executive officer of ASIS International.  “This partnership with GovSec gives us the ability to increase the effectiveness and productivity of security management professionals around the world.”
On March 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., ASIS will present a free session entitled “Building Career Competencies and Professional Recognition.” Led by Philip S. Deming, CPP, CFE, SPHR, the session will explain to attendees the strategic value of pursuing Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), or Physical Security Professional (PSP) designations and how earning these certifications will enhance professional competencies and help advance attendees’ careers.
