With the advent of information technology, security professionals have been able to make good use of secondary sources but, in the bargain, started neglecting the importance of maintaining an efficient primary source network. Timely and credible intelligence from reliable and expert source is critical for functions such as Investigation, Loss Prevention and Crisis Management. Security professionals need to build and optimise their primary source network by using effective intelligence tools and techniques such as source mapping and source management dashboard. Use of these tool and techniques will enhance their capability to maintain a large and active primary source network with required expertise at local, regional and global level.
