Making the Security Profession a First Choice Career for Young, Talented, Intelligent Individuals

​For forward thinking companies, security is becoming a key business function and one that can deliver a real ROI. Covering a wide range of areas including Brand Protection and Counterfeiting, Investigations, Information Security, Insider Threats, Travel Security and Executive Protection, there really is something to interest everyone. Nevertheless, it appears that security departments do face a challenge to either being able or willing to offer young professionals an attractive career. Is it because they do not mind their future? Or is it because the overall preconditions to create such a career path do not perfectly fit yet - both from the employer and employee perspective? Those and other questions will be discussed in the panel.


Ben Suurd
Senior Security Advisor, Lares Integrated Security

Ben Suurd is a Sr. Security Advisor  at Lares Integrated Security. He has a lot of experience in Integrated Security and is well known within the security community as Board Member of ASIS International Benelux Chapter and as a member of the YP council of ASIS International. He has worked within a lot of different companies and for the Dutch Government.

James A. Butler
Managing Director, SMR Group, UK

James A. Butler is SMR Group’s Managing Director for EMEA & Asia and has over a decade of recruitment experience within the corporate security risk sphere. Prior to SMR he spent over eight years heading an international search desk. He is well-known and regarded within the security community and has extensive experience across a wide range of industries throughout the world.

Juan Muñoz, CPP
Co-Director of the ASIS/IE Business School, Spain

Juan Muñoz, CPP, has 35 years of international experience on corporate security, crisis management, risk management and business intelligence. In the 90s he was risk and security manager for Southern and Eastern Europe of TNT Express Worldwide. Between 2005 and 2007, he was head of security and crisis manager of the 32nd America´s Cup and later international security and crisis management senior consultant of one of the largest Spanish multinational companies. His area of operations includes Europe, LATAM and MENA. Member of ASIS International since 1991, he is Chapter 143 (Spain) chairman since 2013. He got an MBA in 1996. He is co-director of the ASIS/IE Business School in Madrid Effective Management for Security Professionals course since 2014 and director of its Spanish version Gestión Estratégica para Profesionales de Seguridad. Currently he is CEO of Associated Projects International and senior consultant of NYA International.

Patrick Hennies
Chief Security Officer, Henkel Group, Germany

Chief Security Officer of the Henkel Group, a German multinational with over 50000 employees worldwide. Over 10 years of experience in security, including assignments as Regional Security Director in Asia-Pacific, Head of Operational Security as well as positions in Information security and Internal Audit. Master’s degree in Business Information Systems and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
