The potential advantages of fully integrated “smart buildings” are becoming a lot more attractive in a world where economic and environmental pressures keep rising. However, along with all the potential benefits come a lot of potential risks. Some of these may be accidental or oversights caused by different departmental priorities, some may be the target of deliberate external action. This session will cover the benefits, highlight the potential threats and outline the way forward.

Mike served for eleven years with The Parachute Regiment, before leaving in 1990 as a Major to develop a second career in risk and security consulting. He is now the Managing Director of Optimal Risk Management. Mike is a Chartered Security Professional and a Fellow of The Security Institute. He is a member of ASIS and holds both their CPP and PSP qualifications. He was recently elected as Chairman of the newly created Specialist Services Section of the BSIA.
