Organized Crime groups have become a viable cyber threat to more than just the banking industry. From the rise of ransomware to targeted, industry-specific attacks, criminal groups are becoming exceedingly sophisticated and capable in the technology arms race. This talk will look at the current state of online criminal activity, ranging from Deep Web black markets to a post-mortem review of a targeted telecoms attack against an American company operating in Europe.

  • List common cyber adversaries and organized cybercrime capabilities and dark web markets
  • Describe new cyber threat business models
  • Explain why and how this new threat matters to businesses

 Presenters

​​Iain Paterson is a Cyber Security expert who has spent 16 years in the industry working in Banking, Government, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors. Today he leads a highly-specialized Offensive Security firm that focuses on the technical vulnerabilities that impact critical infrastructure and applications. Throughout his career, he has designed and implemented Cyber Defense strategies to protect highly sensitive systems and networks. He has first-hand experience responding to attacks from Organized Crime, Hacktivist and Nation State attackers. A practitioner first, Mr. Paterson brings a pragmatic CISOs view to building defensive postures and implementing the right controls to protect against data breaches. He is currently the Managing Director of Cycura, a R&D Offensive Security Services Company.​

 Cancellation and Transfer Policy

For a full refund or transfer credit, written requests must be received by ASIS at least three business days before the start date of the program. Those received less than three days prior will be charged a $25 cancellation/transfer fee.
