 Overview

Implicit biases have particular relevance for private safety/security professionals who must make consequential decisions regarding who is a threat, who is telling the truth, who needs further scrutiny.  Decisions by security professionals based on their biases–which can manifest outside of conscious awareness–can make those personnel ineffective, unsafe and unjust.   This webinar will provide an overview of the science of implicit bias, discuss how those biases might show up in the daily routines of front-line private security personnel, and discuss implications for change.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of implicit bias in the context of security management.
  • Describe the potential impact of implicit bias on the decisions and actions of front-line security officers.
  • Identify strategies that security executives and front-line professionals can adopt to promote bias-free security.
