The cost and frequency of cyber-attacks are increasing. Economic losses from cybersecurity attacks have reached over US $571 billion in 2015. Security professionals, regardless of area of specialization, should seek a deeper understanding of cyber threats. A reactive approach to existing threats will not increase enterprise readiness against new threats. Enterprises should recognize emerging cyber threats and consider them in a holistic security strategy and execution.

Mr. Ong has over 16 years of experience in Information and Corporate Security gained in telecommunication, enterprise, banking and pharmaceutical industries. He has been in a number of different roles within the security profession such as information/cyber security, corporate security, project management, consulting and business development.
Mr. Ong leads the Governance, Risk, Regulatory and Compliance (GRRC) platform for Asia Pacific in MSD International (Merck & Co., Inc). Previously, he was with Barclays Capital as the Head of Global Information Security Risk & Operation, Asia Pacific. He spent over 11 years in Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks. He was responsible for securing Nokia businesses across the region. During his tenure with Nokia Siemens Networks, he provided professional cyber security services for regional telecommunication carriers to secure their networks. Public commendations were received for the projects.
Mr. Ong has volunteered in a number of security associations since 2003. His longest service is with ISACA Singapore Chapter where he was elected as Chapter President twice. He has also served the ASIS International Chapter as Honorary Chairman for three years. He is still serving in various councils and committees at a global level.
Leading information security associations, such as (ISC)2 and ASIS International, have recognized his efforts. He was awarded Information Security Leadership Achievement (ISLA) in Senior Information Security Professional category in 2011 and Professional Certification Board (PCB) Regional Award in 2014. Previously, National Infocomm Competency Centre (NICC) awarded Leonard with IT Specialist of the Year' in 2005. He was instrumental in achieving the K. Wayne Snipes 2013 award for the ISACA Singapore Chapter for being the best very large chapter in Asia
International Data Group (IDG) and CEO|CIO Club recognized Leonard with Chief Security Officer (CSO) ASEAN Honoree award in Hanoi, Vietnam on 16th September 2015.
Mr. Ong holds a Master of Computing degree from National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Bachelor of Engineering degree, Industrial Engineering from Universitas Trisakti.
Mr. Ong regularly delivers presentations in the region and beyond.
