​This 90-minute webinar will examine the culture of violence prevalent in some school systems from K-12 up through the College and University level. Discussion will center on the current safety problems, as well as address some possible solutions.

The webinar will present three different case studies of schools in New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Lexington, Kentucky that examined their school campus culture after a serious security issue occurred.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand what is meant by a "culture of violence" on school campuses
  • Use case studies of actual incidents on school campuses
  • Define what is meant by a "safe culture"
  • Identify and discuss recent issues that have occurred on school campuses and offer possible solutions

About the speakers:

Marianna A. Perry, M.S., CPP
Marianna is a Safety and Security Consultant with Loss Prevention and Safety Management, LLC, and is adjunct faculty at Sullivan University. She is a former detective with the Kentucky State Police and was previously the Director of the National Crime Prevention Institute (NCPI) at the University of Louisville. She is a member of the ASIS Women in Security Council as well as the School Safety and Security Council. Her recent books are titled Handbook for School Safety & Security K to 12, and Security for Colleges & Universities.

Lawrence J. Fennelly, President, Litigation Consultants Inc.
Lawrence J. Fennelly is currently the President of Litigation Consultants Inc., and the Past Council Chairman of the Crime Prevention & Loss Prevention Council as well as the current chair of the School Safety & Security Council. His recent books are titled, Handbook for School Safety & Security K to 12, CPTED, & Security for Colleges & Universities. In 2015, he was the recipient of the President's Award for his writings and vision.
